Disabling updates
Each time I start Calibre it generates network trafic. The updates I do them myself anyway. And I am subscribed to the RSS feed.

I have unchecked the option. And I still got the notification, sign the trafic is still generated.

If you can figure out what url is checked it might be possible to do edit the hosts file to disable it. But it might make future updates difficult.

Google "block website by editing hosts file [name of operating system]" for more information.

why are you bothered about one tiny burst of network traffic though ? - even if you pay per byte, i'ts trivial ?
