Brand New Kobo Aura HD Not Going to Home Screen

I received my Aura HD today and did the setup with my computer. It was working and I eventually got to the home screen. At this point, I could see that the battery was at 96%. Then I pressed log out of account on the device menu which suddenly seemed to throw the device into reset/restore. I had to plug it into the computer again and it reinstalled everything. After removing the device, that is where the problem started.

It doesn't turn on or off, or whatever. The screen is white, so maybe it is on? I can't remember how it looked like out of the box. I've tried turning it off or pressing the reset button several times, but the little light near the top just flashes and goes away. The result of the reset just brings it back to the white screen. I've also tried doing the resets while plugging the device into an outlet or into the computer. If the light near the power button is off, does that mean the device is off? When you turn the device on, does the light stay on as well?

Also, my computer is no longer recognizing the device. Do I need to turn on the power after the restart or does it restart to a powered on state?

Any help is much appreciated. I spent hours syncing all of my books and now before every reading one, this happens. :[

Hello

You can try to make a "basic reset" with paper clip.

Additionally, if you put any books on this device, you should remove it.
And check if problem still happens.

I had similar hanging problems.
Check in thread: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=246526

Everything is ok since I have removed mobi files.

Regards

Why did you log out of your account? That will remove all your books and information from the Aura HD. Not quite a factory reset but close.

The LED does not stay on. It does flash during some steps of the boot process but normally it is off. The display does not blank out when you turn off an eInk device or it crashes. Whatever image is on it remains during a power outage.

You might want to try a hardware factory reset.
  1. Charge your Aura HD for a couple of hours
  2. Slide the power switch right and hold it for 20 seconds to ensure your Aura HD is off. Release the power switch after 20 seconds.
  3. Press and hold the light button.
  4. Slide the power switch right and release it.
  5. Wait for the LED to start flashing rapidly (stobing/discoing) and then release the light button.
  6. Hopefully, your Aura HD will now reset to factory and you will be able to continue with the setup.

Let me know if the process above does not work. Good luck!
