Total Newbie

Hello e-book world!
I was recently gifted with a huge file of e-books and advised to organize them with calibre. Currently it's all set up on a PC but we also have a Samsung Galaxy Tab3 tablet (android) that I would like to use as my primary e-reader.
I'm not very tech savvy, plus we live in Mexico and have a language barrier with local vendors and techs, so I've come here to try to find out how best to work with calibre and the lifetime of reading I have ahead of me. Other than, you know, just going through them all one by one and then blowing them away...

All advice welcomed, as long as you dumb yourself down to my lay-person level. Thanks in advance.
Warm regards from Oaxaca,
Liana
