Battery discharges completely overnight.
When I woke up this morning, I mysteriously found that my HD had only 3% left on the battery. When I put it down last night before going to bed, the charge was in the 90%-95% range. I have a sleep cover and, as always, I closed it and assumed the device was sleeping. Even if it weren't, it should have gone to sleep by itself. I have wifi turned off and it was still off when I plugged the device into the charger and was able to turn it on, so that wasn't the issue. I have firmware 3.8.0, and have been using it since it was released with no apparent problem.
Is my HD hosed? |

If the battery keeps draining quickly--try resetting the device:
http://www.kobo.com/help/en-US/artic...hd-or-kobo-glo It also may be related to a corrupted book on the device. Might be hard to narrow down may be something you just added or were just reading. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that your HD is hosed just because the battery drained quickly a time or two. I've had this happen on various devices--kindles, sony readers, and nooks. Almost always resetting/rebooting fixed it. And if that didn't work a factory reset and reloading the content fixed it. Good luck! |

Oh--almost forgot. I have read a few posts with people having battery problems that seemed to be related to the sleep cover. I haven't had that problem--although I do have an off brand sleep cover. Seems like removing the Kobo from the cover solved the battery drain problem.

Thanks! I reset it this morning, recharged, and it seems to be holding.

Before resetting it, have you tried to simply reboot it?
The same thing happened to me once on my HD, it was discharging really fast even while sleeping. I just tried to stop/restart it (I generally always put it to sleep using the sleep cover) and the issue went away. I simply assumed that one of the processes went crazy, draining CPU time and preventing the system from sleeping. That's the only time I got this issue over a year of usage. |
