Onyx T68
Hey Guys,
Something weird, my Onyx T68 isn't recognised on Linux (Ubuntu 14.04) but it is on Win8... Anyway, here is the requested info: Code:
calibre 2.1 isfrozen: True is64bit: True Linux-3.13.0-35-generic-x86_64-with-debian-jessie-sid Linux ('64bit', 'ELF') ('Linux', '3.13.0-35-generic', '#62-Ubuntu SMP Fri Aug 15 01:58:42 UTC 2014') Python 2.7.8 Linux: ('debian', 'jessie/sid', '') Successfully initialized third party plugins: Recipe Reader && Beam Ebooks && BOL_NL && Skoob && Extract ISBN && BigOven Recipe Reader && Barnes & Noble && Goodreads Sync && ANOBII && Martinus.sk && BOL_DE && Goodreads USB devices on system: [['0xcf3', '0x3004', '0x2', u'', u'', u''], ['0x18d1', '0x2d01', '0x9999', u'ONYX', u'T68', u'0123456789ABCDEF'], ['0x46d', '0xc531', '0x2100', u'Logitech', u'USB Receiver', u''], ['0x1bcf', '0x2c6b', '0x3', u'27C40-06N20-L01S45R3PT', u'HD WebCam', u'']] No disabled plugins Looking for devices of type: MTP_DEVICE No MTP devices connected to system Looking for devices... THe product id of your Onyx is different
['0x18d1', '0x2d01', '0x9999', u'ONYX', u'T68', calibre is looking for ['0x18d1', '0x2d02', '0x9999', u'ONYX', u'T68', I will add that product id to the driver for the next release. |

Not strange:
It is a Valid USB DRIVE device (which is why Windows can show it as a drive) Calibre just does not know what to do (as a Book Reader) with it YET You can currently use 'connect to folder'. The burden is also Currently on you to choose all conversion rules that will be needed. A device driver links a Device Profile to a device id |

Both windows and Linux (Ubuntu 14.04) do recognise it as a USB drive and from the way Calibre handles it amoung Windows i"m guessing it sees it there as a default android device.
Onyx (at least this one) has the option to scan only books from the folder "Books" which can not be changed as far as I can tell. Since Calibre is placing everything in eBooks and not in Books I'm guessing that it didn't recognise it as an Onyx reader. Hence the part where I think it's strange that it able to do that on Windows and not on Linux. |

Quote:
Calibre knows when an eBook Reader is plugged in when the device ID matches a known device ID. The device ID of your T68 is different then the known device ID of other T68s. So when next week's release happens, Calibre will know your T68 is a T68 and will be able to deal with it as you want. |

Reiteration of the question
Hi guys, was the issue fixed? I still have a problem with calibre recognizing my Onyx Lynx...
Code:
calibre 2.5 isfrozen: False is64bit: True Linux-3.16.0-33-generic-x86_64-with-Ubuntu-14.10-utopic Linux ('64bit', 'ELF') ('Linux', '3.16.0-33-generic', '#44-Ubuntu SMP Thu Mar 12 12:19:35 UTC 2015') Python 2.7.8 Linux: ('Ubuntu', '14.10', 'utopic') Successfully initialized third party plugins: Wiki Reader USB devices on system: [['0x4f2', '0xb2fe', '0x7014', u'Vimicro corp.', u'Integrated Camera', u''], ['0x18d1', '0x2d01', '0x9999', u'ONYX', u'T68Lynx', u'0123456789ABCDEF'], ['0x8087', '0x7da', '0x7869', u'', u'', u'']] No disabled plugins Looking for devices of type: MTP_DEVICE No MTP devices connected to system Looking for devices... That release (2.5) is 17 revisions old. If you want to find if the issue is fixed you should probably update to the current release to check. (2.22)

Ubuntu's repository version was already outdated WHEN THEY release the version of Ubuntu.
Remove that version using Synaptic, then use the command line on the Calibre Linux page.. Your Settings and Library remain (You will need to use this line for every weekly version update you choose to instal. I made a local copy ![]() Last edited by theducks; 03-28-2015 at 11:51 AM. I will notice that the person who reported the issue (the last time it was reported anyway
![]() ![]() For the future, see my -- Sticky: Fully automatic calibre installer/updater for linux Includes a calibre-upgrade.sh (run with sudo to manually upgrade calibre) and a systemd service (if you have a different init, it will instead install a cron job).
