can I set page-spread in reflowable layout?

According to the epub3 specification, in fixed layout I can force the cover page to appear on the right spread by adding page-spread-right in the itemref.
I am trying to achieve the same in reflowable but I have not been successful so far.
One thing I tried was to make the cover page fixed layout and the rest reflowable, but it looks like ibooks does not support this fixed layout format.
Is it possible to achieve this somehow?

Are you trying to do this in iBooks? If so, it very well may not work as iBooks is not strictly (just sort of) ePub 3.

Try this:

For content.opf add:
PHP Code:
<meta property="rendition:layout">reflowable</meta>
<
meta property="rendition:spread">auto</meta>

<
itemref id="titlepage" properties="page-spread-right rendition:layout-pre-paginated"/>
For the cover page add:
PHP Code:
<meta name="viewport" content="width=684, height=1024"/>

Thanks @Odedta,
your solution seems to work for Readium and for ibooks in Ipad, but it does not works for Ibooks in osx. As I had experienced before, and as @JSWolf points out, ibooks does not seem to totally conform to the standard. I will though go with this solution and hope that they do conform with some future update.
As for the viewport resolution, I had set it to 600x900 but I see that yours is much bigger, is there any reason by which I should use a higher resolution in this particular case?

If you wait for iBooks to conform, you'll be never stop waiting.

Well, I think you want the resolution as the target device's viewport resolution.
