Calibre 2.0 font/text input problem on Linux

I installed calibre 2.0 yesterday. This morning, I tried to search for a book and learned that when I type in the Search field I don't get the characters I type. Typing "qwe" on my keyboard, for instance, gives "c.g" on my screen. All of the other characters are switched around, too.

Calibre is the only program I've noticed that displays this behavior. When I type "qwe" in a terminal window or Geany, I get "qwe".

I have tried with several different fonts and got the same behavior.

Likely something to do with some special input method/keyboard mapping you are using on your system that is not compatible with Qt 5. See for example: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=244887

I don't have any special input or keyboard mapping that I'm aware of, certainly nothing like what was described in the thread you linked. It's a standard Debian Wheezy install, the only odd thing about it is it's running headless and I'm connecting with VNC.

Weird. The problem goes away when I hook up a monitor and use calibre with a regular X server - it only appears when running headless and connected to tightvncserver.

This will be some interaction between your vnc server and Qt 5. I've never used Qt 5 with a vnc server on linux, but I have on OS X and it works there.
