To Smashwords - ePub or MS Word?
I submitted my first ebook to Smashwords in ePub format, even they recommended MS-WORD. I thought they will automatically convert ePub to other formats. Did I made a mistake? Should I re-submit the book in MS-Word?On my book page at Smashwords, it is available for ePub download only. No Mobi, no PDF, no TXT. Is that a big deal? Thanks

Do both. If you submit a clean EPUB, that is what they will use for distribution to other channels (B&N, ScribD, Apple, etc).
BUT if you want to sell all formats in the Smashwords store, you need to ALSO submit a MS Word Doc (not DOCX, only DOC) for their store. So do both.

I believe you would also need to submit it in .doc format if you want to make it possible for a person to read a sample of your work, which could be a big deal. I'd recommend doing it.
