Converter uses old PDF file as source

Hi,

I've encountered strange problem with Calibre's built-in converter.

I've converted a PDF to a Kindle friendly format (AZW3) and noticed that there are some unnecessary page numbers in the result text so I decided to crop it with Briss.

The cropped PDF was named X_cropped.pdf where X was the original name.

Now whenever I try to convert this cropped PDF to any other format (AZW3, Mobi, ePub) Calibre uses the old PDF as source although I have removed all book copies from Calibre and the source PDF from drive.

I've cleaned temporary files.

My conversion log:

Code:
Syntax Error: No display font for 'BookAntiqua-Bold'
Syntax Error: No display font for 'BookAntiqua-Italic'
Syntax Error: No display font for 'BookAntiqua-BoldItalic'

What can I do to produce AZW3/ePub from the cropped PDF?

I cropped the headers/footers from my pdf with another tool, but Calibre still converts them

Most pdf cropping utilities only change the visible page boundaries of the pdf, they don't actually eliminate the text data.

You need to find a utility which both crops AND deletes hidden text. Very few tools do this - Adobe Acrobat has an option to 'remove hidden text' while optimizing pdfs which can facilitate this. The alternative is to use Calibre's search and replace function to delete the headers, or use Sigil after conversion to epub.

Oh, I didn't read the sticky topic too carefully.

Thanks for quoting. I wish I had the money to buy Acrobat Pro but I wouldn't need it for anything else besides cropping.

With the knowledge about hiding text in hand I've searched similar issues on Reddit and found this comment: http://www.reddit.com/r/kindle/comme...umbers/c2136x5

I've never heard of this program before so I gave it a chance. Although the UI is totally unintuitive I've managed to achieve what I wanted after reading the quick start guide in help section of the program. It worked great, so if anyone encounters similar problem PdfMasher seems to be the cheapest (free) solution. The biggest drawback is this program removes images and styling but fortunately for me the book I was converting had none of both.

Thanks again for your help, problem solved.
