Screen Problem

I just got myself an Aura HD, and am having an issue. I've side-loaded an e-book, and found that the entire screen is not utilized in displaying the text. The bottom portion of the screen is blank save for the page numbers. Is there a way to fix this?

That is how the default display for ePubs are in Kobo devices. But there is a way to use the whole screen when reading...

Plug you Kobo to your computer and find the config file (I believe the file name is Kobo Reader.conf). It should be under .kobo\Kobo

Open the config file (make a copy first, and it's better to use Notepad++).

Next, add this line:

Code:
[FeatureSettings]
FullScreenReading=true
This is still a work-in-progress so there are still some bugs. Like the end of the line on the right side might have some letters cut off. Mostly it is buggy with Kepubs.

After saving and safely removing your Kobo, go to the Reading Settings and you'll see a new option that says 'Show headers and footers'. Make sure that it's unchecked.

Thanks for this. Do I just copy and paste what you sent here into the Kobo Reader.conf file?

Yes, you can paste these lines into the .conf file anywhere. Your Kobo device will - if necessary - sort all entries automatically.

If you use one of the latest firmware releases (3.4.x +; from memory) then there is a more user friendly way to enable full screen reading mode.
Under Reading Settings you'll find an option to show or hide the header and footer.

Edit: I remember that full screen option was not automatically visible in the GUI. To make it visible you have to edit the .conf file.

Do make sure to use an editor that understands Unix style end-of-line; ie; DON'T use Windows Notepad; DO use an editor like Notepad++

Thanks for the help. Had a problem with the password with my account so I had to make a new one, and change But I was the one who posted the question about the text display on the Kobo. I did as you suggested, hleo12, and it worked great. I used a program called Sublime Text. Once I pasted in those commands the option appeared on my Kobo. Does anyone know if there any other hidden features that I can activate using the .CONF file?
