(iOS 7+ only) 47 back issues of "The Magazine" available free

"The Magazine publishes four or more medium-length articles every other Thursday on a wide variety of subjects of interest to curious people." It's also ad-free, and entirely subscriber-supported. A fairly good mix of interesting stuff.

They say that as long as you "buy" the free issues by August 29, you'll have continued access, but I had space and took 30 minutes to download them all, which uses up 1.2 GB.

For everyone who doesn't meet the hardware/software limitations, their web-based archive has one free article from each issue.
