moving calibre from "C" drive

I originally installed calibre on the c drive on my computer. I have recently installed an NAS drive and want to move calibre to the network to free up disk space. What is the best way to do this? I copied the files to the new drive but when I update calibre it only updates the files on the c drive. I thought that there used to be a button to browse where you wanted to install calibre when you updated but either I imagined it (entirely possible lol) or it's no longer there. System is windows 7, drive is WD my cloud.
thanks in advance for any help

Seriously not recommended. (some folk get away with doing it. Some have problems later.)

See the FAQ http://manual.calibre-ebook.com/faq....rked-drive-nas

I do run Calibre over the network. I have the drive I use on the main computer mapped on the others as the same drive letter. I just make sure I don't have another copy of Calibre running at the same time so I don't try to access the same library more then once at the same time. But as long as I don't run Calibre more then once at a time, everything is good to go.

why bother:

deleting just one movie will probably free up more disc space than deleting an entire calibre library

thanks for the info. I'll probably leave it the way it is.

cybemole has the idea.

Put big (read only) files like Movies and Music on the NAS

Calibre is big on doing multiple linked transactions. It only takes 1@ network burp and the linkage is damaged.

Suggestion: now that you have a NAS, use it to BACKUP your calibre library. via a one-way mirror.( I use freefliesync for my backups)
OR configure windows backup to do it for you as part of a larger backup routine.
