Will you subscribe to Kindle Unlimited?
For those who haven't heard, Kindle Unlimited is like Netflix for ebooks. $9.99 a month for unlimited reading.
And like Netflix, the selection is limited. |

It's a no from me. My primary source for ebooks is the Phoenix Public Library and I think their selection is great, so any paid subscription service will have a serious uphill climb to win my business.

No - already belong to a bunch of public libraries.

That's one of the best libraries in the country, so I definitely agree with what you're saying.

No, unless they add several of the big publishers to the catalog.

I am. The public library I belong to has very limited ebook selection. Currently, I have an Audible platinum membership, so if I downgrade that to gold, I wouldn't be paying anything more than I already am. Without really searching too hard I found a few things I'd like to read. But continuing with KU depends on the quality and quantity of new additions as it goes along.

I vote for the "Possibly, once they open it up internationally" option.
I'd really like there to be at least HarperCollins books in addition, too, but from a quick look-through, I found at least ~25 off my wish-list and in their recommendations that I might be interested in (but not enough to buy), so at the very least I'd go for the free trial month. |

I will sign up for the trial period and probably pay for two months after that (because of the perk of Audible credits for the first three months). After that, the odds are that I'll cancel. I'm mostly interested in it for the Whispersync for Voice audiobooks, especially because my public library has shifted from Overdrive to Axis 360, which I can't use with my Sansa Clip Zip.

I'll likely subscribe... for my mother.
It's easier and simpler than hunting for free or sale ebooks to keep her habit fed. ![]() (Typical month, 15-20 books. Depends on what movies run on Lifetime Movie Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel.) Her tastes are as eclectic as mine but skew more towards romance and thrillers than SF&Fantasy--say, 70/30, whereas I'm more like 70/10/20 SF, Fantasy, other... |

I really can't see any paid book lending service being better than my public library, which is free and has a fantastic selection. I have 240 titles on my wish list; over half of them are available to check out right now.

I'll give it a try, it's worth it just for the 3 free months of Audible credits. I don't see a lot of books I want to read yet, but expect Amazon will entice some of the big publishers to join and I anticipate plenty of recommendations of interesting book finds within the program will be posted on this forum.

I'm giving the free trial a shot and so far there were several books that were on my wish list. As for whether I'll pay when the trial is up, I don't know.

No. For ebooks I like to own them. I'm not really into audiobooks. The naration distracts me from the story. Well, I might try it some month so I could try a few audiobooks without having to buy them. Probably wouldn't continue the subscription though.

I'll clear out most of my current reads, identify a few books of some interest and then sign up for the trial in order to get the free Audible credit. Perhaps I'll find some Whispersync audio purchases on books that aren't available at my Overdrive libraries. But I'll quit before the month is up; the number of unread books I own makes a paid subscription insanity.

Not yet. I went through about half of my extensive wishlist on ereaderiq, and I found perhaps 10 books that were available. I get the vast majority of my reading from the library.
