Series sorting
When I sort my library by series, it seems a "hidden" field series_sort is used. Unlike title_sort and author_sort, there's apparently no way to modify this series_sort, or is there? I was expecting the "Manage series" dialog to have something like that.

No there's no way to modify that field. IIRC you can tell calibre to sort using strictly what is in the series field via a Tweak.

But I believe the same tweak applies to series and titles. And anyway, what I'd like is to modify the series_sort field, not ignore it.
Would it be of any use creating a feature request? ![]() |

I peeked into the DB with SQL spy
There IS a field 'sort' in the series table. and, like yourself, I wonder why I could not 'Manage' this You probably know: There are tweaks that affect series sorting order There are tweaks for Language 'Articles' that can also affect sorting I use Library_order. When sending to device I get series strangeness: (been this way a long time) Big Series, The A, Little Series Alternate Series, An |

No I'm afraid I have no interest in making that field user editable.

theducks,
Just to make sure I'm understanding your post... You're saying that the series' name as entered would originally have been "A Little Series"? Because obviously if that was the case then the resulting sort is wrong. Does it do this with any individual letter? Or just certain letters? How about potentially conflicting titles like "I, Robot" or "The Z Effect"? |
