Changes for Chinese in Firmware 3.5.0 ?
Hi,
Can any Chinese reader check this: I think that in previous versions of the firmware, the titles and authors displayed quite well in the main book list and in the collections lists. (Of course, inside the book, I had to choose the correct font). I have just updated to 3.5.0 and I discover that quite a few characters of the author and title are missing (replaced by squares). Does anyone know if the title / author font for the main book catalog has been changed in this firmware ? (But of course, I might also have messed up something in my custom fonts during the update, which could also explain the change ![]() Regards François |

On the contrary, 3.5.0 improved chinese titles' display in the library pages, at least on my kobo aura hd.
I just need to rename a CJK font as "KGothic MB101.ttf" and put it into the fonts folder, the system will automatically use the font to display Chinese instead using the Japanese only font in the previous version of firmware. The system may be not very responsive to the operation. You may need to switch between different fonts in the books or between library page and reading page several times or even give the device a reboot. But as long as I tried for several times, it always works. |

Hi Alfredonair,
Thanks a lot for the feedback. It really helps me narrowing the problem down to a "font" pb, not a firmware one ![]() Like you I had some real unresponsive problems, and I assume that the Arial unicode (not open source) was too big for my Glo, and even for the Aura HD. I suppose that the fonts I still have are not using "traditional" or "simplified" characters, thus not displaying them in my library. Of course, I will give a try at Kgothic you mentioned ![]() Nice hints Regards François |
