Thumbs up [Solved] T68: serious problem with wifi

I have received today my t68 purchased in http://ereader-store.de
It can (not always) detect my wifi, enter password, obtain (not always) IP but I cannot browse and Play Store cannot validate my account.
If I put a static Ip it says that my wifi is "not in range" just beside the router.
I have changed channels and deleted password in router, deactivated and activated b/g and n, updated the firmware of T68, changed to another router and cross my fingers without luck.

The detection of networks is erratic, now shows one, or two or three or none.
I have installed wifi analizer and compared with my phone beside the router. In a first time t68 detects the wifi (only one) and a few seconds after wifi disconnects.

What do you think? Is it a problem of bad configuration or my reader is faulty?

I have not rooted it yet.

Thanks in advance and excuse my poor English

That sounds like a hardware problem to me. My T68 has got very sensitive WiFi detection. Better than my iPhone, and just as good as my Nexus 7.

My 2 ¢:
received ( via amazon ) my t68, no matter to connect it to my wifi net.
I've spend two hours of efforts but no luck.
In the end of the afternoon arrived the UPS courier with my new.... ups unit for my computers. Swithed off my computers and router, connected ups unit and booted-up all machines, instantly T68 connected to the net.
I don't know why... didn't touch anything between stop and restart of all stuff...

In another section of the forum, Brandobras says he had to change channel of his wifi net , for obtaining connection ( i've tried also this but no luck).

Nothing, my wifi is totally useless. Tomorrow I'll try in the house and network of my brother. If it does not work I'll contact ereader.store.

BTW, with the reader off, if you press back and power at the same time you enter in recovery mode.

Hello,
i had the same problem with mine. I solved it changing the wifi channel of the router from "auto" to a low value (with mine channel "10" works perfectly)

best regards

Thank you for the idea, Brandobras, but I have changed channels, modes, routers and networks. The signal is poor or inexistent. It not obtains IP and if yes the network goes "not in range".

Just got mine earlier from Amazon and the initial connection and general WiFi use seems fine. However it did randomly switch off the WiFi earlier while browsing this forum, and then again while I was typing the first version of this response, resulting in me losing everything. I've resorted to the iPad Mini to type this. The signal strength is a bar lower than on my other devices too.

I find the touchscreen accuracy and responsiveness pretty poor, especially when typing, not withstanding the connection problem. The screen contrast also seems poor compared to my Sony PRS-350.

Not sure yet if it's a keeper. It's no doubt the most flexible ereader but is that enough?

There was a mention of an update (from Harry, I think) who said the touchscreen accuracy has been greatly improved with a newer software update.

Yes, the software update significantly improves the touchscreen accuracy.

I have already downloaded an update but the problem it's still there. The update seems to be different to yours, dated 2014-06-20 rather than 2014-06-26, but there aren't any others to download.

I have tested with a new router without luck. My t68 cannot connect. I can't validate my account of Play Store or Amazon to use the kindle app (manually installed) and so I cannot access my books in Amazon and I cannot download my books.

I contacted with ereader-store.de via their contact form two days ago but I only got an automatic response.

I have responded to your message yesterday:
"Hello,
this is a very unusual problem.
On the pcicture here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...8/DSC_9340.JPG
you can see that the WiFi Analyzer graphs of my Samsung S5 and T68 are quite the same.

I guess there could be a problem with the internal antenna of T68. I would suggest to send your device back to our store for substitution..."

A general request - please, let us time to reply to your messages. On Mondays we have to respond to all the messages from Friday, Saturday and Sunday (it takes hours!!). Just be a little bit patient... We answer all contact messages.

On weekends and holidays I have to spend my time with my family and am not allowed to use PC My wife would kill me, since I am spending already 10-12 hours daily (working days) in the office..

Thank you, Booxtor, excuse me for my impatience.

I can understand that it was weekend and your family also needs you.
I have received today an email with instructions for the devolution of the reader for its substitution. This afternoon I'll send the package.

Regards

Booxtor (ereader-store.de) helped me with the repatriation of my faulty reader and sent me one that works perfectly.
Sorry for not posting before.

Thanks a lot.
