Kindle PW1 battery issues.

I added 120 books to PW1 and in time started to notice that battery started to drain quicker.
Turned-off kindle also drains the charge.
All books are indexed. It's more than 3 weeks now.
Restart won't help.
It suffices for 12-15h(it's 3 days tops for me) of reading with lighting on 2-5/24, it's less then before.

The update to 5.4.4.2 was installed at the same time.
Could it be plugins? I've got fonthack and gtranslator that I reinstalled after update.

I don't want to delete books after I sorted whole amount by collections.
What should I try?

If you can, check over SSH what htop/the logs say. If you can't, just check the logs (search for ;dm from the Homescreen), there may be some more tricky cataloging/indexing stuff involved.

As for the custom stuff, AFAIK, the ACX should be inert, and for the fonts, unless you're using a seriously broken font (or one that the framework subtly doesn't like), the impact should be minimal.

Do check the indexing again: your symptoms are a classic description of what happens when one or more books get stuck indexing.

From the home page, tap the "Search" button, ensure that the search scope is set to "All Text", and enter a random search string. If it comes back and says "X items not yet indexed", you've got an indexing problem.

Indeed it's an indexing problem, I didn't set search to "All Text" and thought it's done.
I've got 38 unindexed books.

As I understand it's stuck on one of them, can I determine on which one? Or it's all 38 books?
Some of them are read to some point and all sorted into collections, I don't want to remove all 38 books and lose all progress points and collection-data.

Maybe I can learn it somehow from "/Kindle/system/Search Indexes/" ?

@dtp: I don't remember if it's exactly spelled out in the logs, but I *think* it does.

As for the search indexes, I have no idea how/what they hash to get unique filenames, so: nope.

To find out what books are not indexed on PW2 just tap the message "Items Not Yet Indexed" and you'll get the full list of books at fault.

Are you saying that 38 of 120 books are damaged, not that kindle stuck on one flawed and won't go further?

No, it gets stuck on one, and the others are just queued up behind it. Unfortunately there's no easy way to tell which is the problem book. I'm afraid you'll just have to bite the bullet, delete them, then re-add them in smaller batches.

I had 7 books not indexed because 4 of them were loaded twice to two different folders. Tapping 'Not yet Indexed' message helped to determine names of those that could possibly have problem with indexing.

In all_system_logs_as_of (;dm) I found reference to the book that likely causes troubles lies in /Kindle/system/Search Indexes/ by name yeab1b6e61362b0e0cbd1b02a95d14559

Maybe there's the way to find book's name be this file/filename?

Reference files in /system/Search Indexes/ all begin with AZSA
Perhaps it's some kind of archive or db?

I've got no Windows, so can't use it.

Solution for indexing:
You need go to /Kindle/system/Search Indexes/ and remove file by name y{32 symbols} that is latest by date. Then eject kindle and it will index books till it's stuck again, at which point you need to repeat the procedure.
It took 2 trys to index all 38 books. There were no unindexed books left, which is strange, so I think it's more kindle-software problem then flawed book.

I will observe battery life in next few days to confirm that this indeed was the problem of indexing, then post the results.

If you delete a book that is in a collection, when you re-add it, it will go back into the same collection, if you have synced after adding the book to the collection.

I just did that for a test - readded book won't associate with any collection after synchronization.

In any case, kindle went back to normal functioning after there were left no books for indexing.

Thanks to all who tried to help.
