Converting ePub > AZW3 so the cover shows up as the first page

What do I have to do to an ePub that gets converted via Kindlegen to AZW3 such that when the AZW3 is opened on an eInk Kindle that the first thing that shows up is the cover?

Invent your own reading engine.

By design Amazon Kindle cannot link to the cover in any way.

I suppose you could also embed the cover as a regular page in the book. Then mark that as the beginning using Add Semantics: Text.

I could try the add semantics on the ePub and then convert it to AZW3 and see if that works.

It won't work. The cover is the one place in the book that you can't make it open at. Any other page, yes, but not the cover.

Or perhaps he means to remove the Cover attribute and hasn't told us.
