Pull Hyperlinks from Metadata

Hi

I am trying to get Calibre to provide me with the url for the ebook format for amazon.

For example:

Field of Prey by John Sandford
asin: B00FX7UL72
amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/Field-Prey-Joh...dp/B00FX7UL72/

I created a custom column for asin

Then I created a custom column
#amazonlink
column built from other columns
http://www.amazon.com/{title}+{author}-ebook/dp/{asin}

what I get is this:
http://www.amazon.com/Field of Prey-John Sandford-ebook/dp/0399162380

which doesn't work

I need this:

http://www.amazon.com/Field-of-Prey-.../dp/0399162380


All I want is the link to the Kindle edition for amazon.com. Is there an easier way to do this? or is there a way to fix this?

@tarisea - In the template for #amazonlink I think you'll need to replace the spaces in title and author with hyphens.

Take a look at your Amazon link again. Within it, your title=Field Prey, not Field of Prey.

It almost seems that Amazon is removing Articles of Speach and other minor words from book titles. Effectively reducing the title to a list of keywords.

1.) calibre already generates those URLs automatically from identifiers in the book details panel

2) You dont need the book title for amazon URLs, all you need is the asin, like this:
http://amzn.com/0441020321

Any book bought from amazon should already have this; Kovid has designed it to be imported as identifier:mobi-asin. While I wish there was a setting for which coutry's Amazon store it should point to (I have a feeling most people are getting it from amzn.com ) I ended up creating a saved Metadata Bulk Edit S&R that copies identifier:mobi-asin and inserts it as identifier:amazon.

Maybe this doesn't do what you want, but you can configure Amazon's country under the configure metadata section.

Nope, I want identifier:mobi-asin to link to amazon without intervention or metadata S&R. Kovid disabled it because it could confuse non-US-store users -- reasonable enough, even if it doesn't match my desires.
