Talking Improving Grip [sandpaper anyone?]

Aura HD has a nice back design, but let's be realistic, the texture is very slippery and it reflects fingerprints which looks very ugly.
It could feel (and look!) better if it was knurled like the back of most Samsung phones.

I'm thinking about sandpapering the back of Aura HD, but I'm almost certain it will look ugly, but the grip will be awesome!

Anyone have any better idea?

Of course there is a better idea then taking sandpaper to your Kobo. Get a case. Using it without a case is a bad idea as your Kobo is just waiting to get broken. Plus, I find a case makes it easier to hold without accidentally touching the screen.

Unfortunately I live in a rogue state and therefore can't purchase anything online (no case available for purchase at eReader shops either).

I guess removing a hardbook cover and gluing it to Aura HD would be better.
I'm just not sure what glue to use, if I knew what kind of plastic is used to make Aura HD, I could select a proper glue.

Gluing the Aura HD is also a rather bad idea. if you truly cannot buy a case online, maybe find a shop you could call to order from and have them send it to you that way. That's then not buying online.

Where is it you live that you cannot purchase anything online?

Eeps, yes, don't glue your ereader! You can, however, construct a cover out of an old hardback book, elastic, cardboard and so on. There are a heap of tutorials on the web.

It would feel and look better if it had a back like the rest of the Kobo's!

There is "Textured Grip Tape" (Google it). I have a hatch on the back of my AuraHD that gives me easy access to the internal uSD card. Simple Duct tape works well for making the hatch.

Luck;
Ken

I'd try Plasti Dip textured paint. You can spray it or brush it on. Do some research though. I've never used it but have been tempted a few times.

I did that once and even 3 or 4 layers gave only a very thin layer. I also managed to get some on the IR plastic and lost the use of the touchscreen. I did manage to remove it and I am still using my AuraHD. It came off most of the case easily, but the little bit on the IR plastic was a real pain.

Luck;
Ken

If you think your Aura HD is smudged and fingerprint prone, multiply that by 4 to imagine what I go through with my Arc 10HD. I gave up...once in a blue moon it clean it with Optex solution (for glasses) and in rest..I don't look.
Why not a cover? Bribe someone to get it from eBay for you

Ech1965 has it right - anti-skid tape. It can be removed without damage to the Aura.
