Color choice ???

I sure wish Marvin would allow the user to pick our own color instead of forcing us to use one of the, admittedly large selection of, colors the developer of Marvin has, is his ultimate wisdom, forced on the users.

I think Marvin provides an ample selection. Would you like a user interface where you entered 3 numbers to select you color. Otherwise it is a create deal of effort to build some sort of special graphics tool to permit you to select your color that is like almost identical to one he already offered. I do not think he did what he did to force his will on you.

@slayda - Thanks a lot for your feedback. I feel that creating UI to allow people to enter RGB/HEX values or some sort of colour wheel (2x for foreground and background) will make things over complicated for most readers. I'm also a reluctant to add new switches and settings unless absolutely necessary - for the same reason.

Yes! All paint programs do this. It's much easier than scrolling thru a bunch of weird colors, then checking whether the are readable or not. Especially since the 'small' color swatches don't accurately show how a full page of that color will look.

You da man in charge but after losing my "themes" a few times and having ti recreate them by scrolling through so many colors that never look the same when the full page is that color, it becomes very frustrating when a color chart would be soooo much easier for the user. Tho may not be so easy for the developer.

I bet that somewhere you could find public domain coding for such a color chart. That would give a start at least.

BTW, even with my frustrations, thanks for creating Marvin.

The first time: my iPad did not inform me of the 2.7.2 upgrade and I had to upgrade manually, thus the themes were lost. I had never had my iPad not notify me of an upgrade before.

The second time: I foolishly did a reset to defaults, so I guess that was my fault.

And I'm one of those weird people who remembers numbers much better than names and also I use paint programs a lot (not as an artist but just playing) so I am very familiar with color charts and RGB numbers, & to a lesser extend HSL numbers tho I prefer RGB.

It's odd. Even if you update manually (overwrote an existing copy), your theme choices shouldn't be lost. I'll investigate.

Hello KGuil... I have a stupid idea. The next time you use iTunes remote on an iOS device, please notice how Remote blurs the album cover of a song and draws from the primary colors of the jacket.

Could Marvin do something like this? It's nice that we get to pick from a limited color palette.. but I think this would be nicer.

Basically I'm really happy with Marvin "as-is"..... I'll list my other feature requests in a unique thread.

@leoofborg - Are you referring to the 8 colour themes in addition to the red one?

If so, the idea is not that stupid... I have experimented with it. However, doing that really efficiently requires some new stuff in iOS 7 and, currently, Marvin is built against the iOS 6 feature set. Also, I have to be very careful about changing any of those themes since they are purchasable IAP items.
