Getting books to reader as kepubs

I've installed the Kepub output plugin in Calibre and restarted Calibre, but when connect my Aura HD and send a book to it, it shows up on the reader as epub rather than kobo epub. What additional steps do I need to take to get books sent as kepubs?

Calibre is v1.39, the Aura HD is running firmware 3.3.0, the kepub output plugin is v2.2.16, and the ebooks do not have any DRM on them. The PC is a notebook running Windows 8.1.

If you use the KoboTouchExtended device interface plugin you can have it auto convert ePub to kePub on the fly when transferring to the device. I can't remember if it does this by default or if you have to check kePub when you customize the plugin.

The kepub output plugin lets you do a conversion to kePub within Calibre as opposed to on the fly during transfer. There may be a way to set it up for on the fly conversion, I'm not sure as I've never used it.

You have to get the KoboTouchExtended Plugin.

All epubs will be automatically converted as a kepub file when you transfer it to your Kobo.
