How to Use MMC

hi

i just bough a 2GB MMC and put a folder filled with books on it.
then plugged it into my iLiad but when i go to MMC i cant see anything there.
i tried to format it to FAT and then used the software came with iLiad and put a text file on OutBox> MMC Folder and then transfer.
i still can see anything in iLiad.

i used to use normal USB Memory and it was working fine.

I believe the Iliad only supports up to 1GB MMC. The standard doesn't go any higher. The 2GB card you have is very likely an SD card.

Because a 2GB MMC is, in fact, an SD card, not an MMC card.
And MMC card slot has nothing to do with USB sticks.

i tried it with 512MB and it worked Thanks, now i have to exchange mine with 1GB one.

but do you think that it will be able to work with 2GB and more in the future.
as i know it is a Linux OS inside and Linux has no problems with Memory Size.

Thank you for you information

Its the hardware that is limited. Its really a different thing MMC and SD. So your unit will never be able to read SD cards, but those who are MMC compatible, and MMC can only do 1GB max.

You can buy CF cards with hardly a limit I know of. (8GB official, but heared 16 will also work).. However check first the compability lists...

32GB CF cards have been reported as working fine, too. Best to stick with CF.

can i set all items in configuration to look at cf for books, docs ect., then when i want to access something on mmc (like diary that i don't normally want to show up to people browsing my mach.) switch one of them to mmc?

I know; why don't I just try it? I did and it doesn't work. In fact, I can't access mmc at all? I copied the cf contents to the mmc, that didn't work, then formatted it and that didn't either.

confused.

That's pretty weird... It works for me.
I keep News on my MMC, everything else in internal memory and use a CF to access some stuff here and there through the device manager...

Are you sure your MMC isn't faulty?
Does it work on its own?
Are you absoposisurely sure it's an MMC or a 1 GB SD card, not something larger?

What size card are you using? What type of filesystem did you format it as?

Are you certan of that?? I've seen a number of 2GB MMC cards being sold, and they do not have the attributes of SD cards (such as a data lock).

http://www.amazon.com/Transcend-TS2G.../ref=de_a_smtd

Since the same company also sells 2GB SD and SD HC, why would they do that if at 2GB MMC and SD were the same thing??
