Does Amazon Send Updates Via WiFi?

I've had my pw2 for 6 months or so and I just noticed that it's not connected to my home wifi. I thought I had done that when I got the kindle, but I'm not sure.

The kindle has updated the firmware via the cellular connection. I assume that's how it did it since I don't have wifi setup. I've taken some actions to prevent automatic updates in the future and also keep airplane mode turned on.

If I setup the wifi connection, will Amazon try updating via wifi?

Of course they do, even on 3G devices

. How did you think they pushed updates to WiFi only devices? ^^.

Unfortunately, yes, and it will do it with no prompting or confirmation from you. I turned on wifi to wiki something, forgot to turn wifi off, and it updated my PW2, leaving me to reapply my patches again.

Was kinda hoping someone else would give it -- it's difficult to do links on my Kindle Touch browser.

I did apply the hack. Either I did it incorrectly or something went wrong because I got the update anyway.

With airplane mode always on? No.

The latest update is incompatible with using Collections Manager and the Collections Plug-In with Calibre. Amazon is making it difficult to use 3rd party software to enhance the kindle experience.
