how to remevoe vertical bar

i need help in removing vertical bar from epub ebook while formating the structure of the ebook

i have something like this <p class="calibre1">4 | Wynn Wagner</p>
while i do regex it becomes something like this

<p class="calibre1"></p>

|

<p class="calibre1"></p>

<p class="calibre1"></p>

i any idea of how to remove this | ?

\| in regex might work but IIRC this might have been the one (a bug) that you have to do by hand
