Is there a way to remotely send books to my device

I know when I buy something in Kobo's store they send it straight to my device.
I also know it is possible to set up Calibre as a server.
And with the wifi insomnia patch I think it is possible to connect with the browser to one of my nas devices internal ip, and download a book... that is almost near what I want ( still theory, byt I gonna try that one, but is it also possible to send just the books I want to my device while it is upstairs ??
When kobo can, I don't say I am a professor, but then someone else must can do it also ???

You can potentially get an (s)ftp server running and "push" an epub down that path.

I can go with the browser to the place ( see the screenshots who are, i was very surprised, in color) and the book, I can get the info ( see the pic's ) but the download doesn't work.

What firmware are you using? I'm running 3.3.0 with the "download all" patch and I can download books and library would scan them.

It could be the MIME type the server is sending. The device might only accept certain MIME types. Or, the download button is doing something more that the browser can't handle.

I already am trying to get another nas running, but that only works on FTP, that means that I have somehow try to install something like that, but for as far as I know ( or can find) the build in browser doesn't allow favorites, I can only install a start page.. and type everytime the ip number of the nas... gonna look further.. but with my problems with the search... like a epub editor for android.. nowhere to be found... reading in bed.. wow, something wrong with the epub.. who you gonna call... oh wait, that is something else.. that means standing up in the middle of the night, go downstairs, edit the ebook, put it back on the reader.. go back to bed.. just hook it on my tablet, run an android editor, would be so, so much more fun...

You can save favourites by pressing the menu icon in the bottom right corner. That has "Add to favourites".

As to editing, I mark any errors I see while reading and then fix them when I am next at the computer. It would have to be a really bad error to get me out of bed.

But, a way you could do it from a tablet is with a remote desktop client to your PC. A little clumsy, but it would work. And of course, an epub is just a zip file. So, you could unzip it, edit the files inside and the zip it again. There are probably Android apps to do that.

I know of the last one ( zips) I like to use total commander, but the android unpacks the epubs, edit them, but when it had to repack it lost the track of the edited temp file.. if I let my computer running I could used the server option of Calibre, it is just such a... when I go with my tablet to the given IP's and html pages, they download the epub's from the nas with no problem... the kobo says something about php when it try's to download the book.. I have to look because I think a lot of php files are stored now...
It is all about sideloaded books... Kobo just want them to buy with them, but in my country Google books are about 3 euro's cheaper then the kobo ones...
Thank you for putting me out how to store favorites... the blinking of the browser confuses me so much that i didn't see the option !
(and my glasses are now +2 )

Hey, I know this is an old forum and I'm not sure it this helps anyone, but I thought I'd share my discovery.
This is how you can easily send books to you Kobo device.
Convert your book to mobi (I know, counter-intuitive) in Calibre and email it to yourself as an attachment. Open the browser on your Kobo ereader, log in and open the email. Tap on the attachment and a window will pop up asking if you want to download the file. Confirm and another window will ask if you want to open it. Confirm again and that's it, Bob's your uncle.
I have a Kobo Aura One and it works great, can't be sure if works on other devices.
Btw I tried the same with a kepub and it wouldn't work.

Why is the conversion to mobi needed? The Kobo browser will happily download an epub for you. And the kepub should work if you send it with the extension ".kepub.epub".

Similarly, I don't really understand the advantage over just using the Calibre content server. Or any cloud service that works.

KOReader has several functions for this. Its "Cloud storage" lets you setup for "Dropbox" or "FTP". There are two ways to access your calibre library wirelessly, the easiest is to just turn on the calibre content server and access the OPDS local calibre catalog. You can also have your KOReader equipped device appear in calibre as a connected wireless device, using KOReader's "calibre wireless connection".

You can, of course, place the downloaded books where you want them and read with any compatible reader on your device, to include the stock software.

Luck;
Ken
