How I met My Spouse/Wife/Husband/Lover/Friend
I was a freshman in college and both of us were on the school newspaper staff. We didn't know each other, just saw one another now and then in the paper's office. One day as I was crossing campus on crutches after breaking my foot she offered to carry my books for me.
Seven years later after I finished grad school we met again. (But that is another story) and were married less than two years after that. This year will be our 29th anniversary. OK, what's your story? |

I had just moved to a new hospital system and was standing in the closet they had assigned me as an office, wondering where I was going to put my books, let alone see patients. In walks this lovely creature and states that she wanted to meet the new psychiatrist. In the state of mind I was in at the time, I looked up from the boxes and said, "I must marry you!"
Actually, I looked up and quite rudely said, "Who are you?" She said, "Nobody!" and walked away. We've been together for nine years and married for five next Saturday. I still haven't lived down the first impression. |

My Husband and I went to high school together. We met Freshman year and dated off and on until we graduated. We married 6 months after we graduated and have been married 36 years this past January. High school chums are best. Mellina

My girl friend's husband had a country western band and the band was playing at a real dive and she wanted me to go with her so she didn't have to sit alone while the band played. Country western is probably my least favorite music genre but I'm a loyal friend and went. DH was playing bass in the band. (C&W isn't his favorite music either but a gig is a gig.) That was in 1980. Our 24th wedding anniversary is this summer so I do owe a little something to C&W.

In a course classroom, she was the only lady with 10 men. She asked my help with the filling in of a course form. From then on it was heaven, and still is after, erm....____yep....34 years.
And we are now in our 32nd year of honeymoon... |

I had just arrived in Sydney, Australia on vacation and wandered into a restaurant/pub in the Rocks District to get a drink and something to eat when I met and ended up walking out with the woman who was to become my wife.
And all I'd wanted was a gin and tonic. I actually saw her standing there when I walked in the place and rudely demanded to know why there weren't any kangaroos around. She politely pointed out that this was central Sydney and, apart from lawyers, there were mostly just humans around. If I wanted 'roos, I had to go to the Outback. |

The Loved One initially employed me and managed me over twenty years ago (he even helped me tie my work tie, since I had never worn one and though they taught you all kind of knots in cubs they didn't teach that one, because you used a woggle). A few years after that, with naught other than professional interaction between us, and after a massive heart attack had him "review" his life and decide "better out than in", and by coincidence while "very bad thoughts" had dragged me into the slough of despond, we met for several months over a summer beach and some post-swim movies, and have been been with each other, pretty much 24/7, ever since. Our 17th "anniversary" was earlier this year, and we intend to "marry", for form's sake, (we've decided bugger what the government says) either this year or early next.
Cheers, Marc |

![]() Marc: what's a woggle? I met my hubby on an online dating service -- then found out he lived in the same city I do. He was freshly widowed (widower-ed???) and I helped him through things. Got married shortly after. Have since separated (I moved out) but still text message avidly, daily, and have dinner together a few times a week. He taught me the joy of loving shih tzus. I had cats before the marriage - but after they retreated to living in the ceiling tiles, I gave them away. And now I have our shih tzus with me, keeping me warm in bed. ![]() |

I was at college. Started late, at age 25, so the freshmen girls thought I was an old man & the upper class girls thought I was too junior. Anyway I was walking along thinking I was safe in my bachelorhood when wham!, out of nowhere something hit me. Now some 38 years later, I find out it was my wife.

College, 19years old, she was 17. We clicked to each other and I felt her down to my marrow as I knew she was the one. And then the little bad voice in my head said "Hey you're way too young and she's a baby. Look at that other one there, you could have loads of fun with her!"
Stupid me listened and went down with...a lot of trouble fer my sins. Next year as I was crawling back up, her sister set us up with a date at her place and sneaked out and left us alone. Well we dated for a year and then got married on her 19th birthday. It will be thirty years in october of this year, and I don't regret any of it but the stupid kids we had! ![]() |
