Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight $79.88

It is $79.88 at Officemax.
The model no. is BNRV350
Is the above the current model number, or is that the 1st generation?

It's not the current model, it's ... technically, I guess, the 2nd (or 3rd?) generation. It's exactly like a Nook Simple Touch but with a Glowlight.

The newest model is called a Nook Glowlight, no mention of "Simple Touch" -- and it's white and has no buttons.

Yes in the description this one is black and has an sd card slot, but it looks like it is hard to find.

Many people (myself included) think that's the best Nook, better than the current gen.

The Nook Simple Touch (w/o the light) can be found so cheaply now. I just got a used one for $35. Love it!

I think that's the best one also. I bought a Nook Simple Touch w/ Glowlight used and I don't really like the glowlight. I'll probably sell it and get non-glowlight backup. They have them in the pawnshops for $30 or $35 around here. And, usually, you can talk them down $5 or $10 more. For whatever reason, pawn shop shoppers want tablets, not e-Ink eReaders.

I have been looking for this one also, I was trying to buy it locally here on craigslists but users are not willing to come down below $45 currently. Officemax had this on closeout for $35 new, but I could not find one anywhere.

I hate to say it, but short of eBay (and some folks hate eBay), $45 may be a the best price you're going to get now -- they're getting rarer. Up until recently Best Buy had them -- new -- for $50 with free shipping. But, as far as I can tell -- at least in my area -- they're about gone. Our local Walmart has about ten of them in stock, but they're no longer listed in the computer, so they don't know what to sell them for.

I just called my Walmart and they stated they had 7 of them in stock at $69. I asked if they go on sale he stated they were on sale from the original price of $79.

The Walmart I go to in my area can't even find them in their computer. I think they still have the $99 price tag. So they'll probably be there a long, long time. They took the display down probably a year ago.

You can find them from sellers on Amazon also. Some of them look good. It's so nice and fast, I just dropped a few thousand on the card in mine and they process so much faster than a Kindle. (Well, can't put that many on current Kindle, anyway). I have rooted mine with NookManager and just put Mantano on it, and it's looking really good! The text, I mean. I was having a little difficulty with Cool Reader (words running together) but that could be the version I installed. The books look good in Mantano with my font, though! Searching for a book takes a second or two. I have over 4,600 on a 4gb card. (Lots of short stories, very few-if any-long works).

@booklover6, have you (or have you heard of anyone) tried running Calibre Companion on it?

I have not tried that, no. It is an old version of Android. However, now I am going to have to try it. I will report back.

No, it won't install. The android version is probably too old.

That's too bad. I thought it might work since both CC and Mantano are supposed to require Android 2.3

I do have a nook STR and the only thing the GLO has is the front light. The divided memory and interface are very poor. (IMHO), I don't think you'll like it and not for that much.
