Huge PW1 problem!!!
After updating to 5.4.4.2 FW my Kindle became awful slow to the mere i couldn't use it.
I do not know why but I installed jailbreak then. Everything stayed the same altough apps worked generaly well(except for KOReader which stable release exits to the main menu all the times). Somewhere I heard that reseting device will help. What I forgot to do is that I need to unninstall jailbreak first with .bin file before doing that. Nevertheless, everything worked perfectely fine and Kindle succefully completed the process. After that my Kindle returned to normal speed. Everything was great until today. I did not do nothing I just pluged my Kindle to re jailbreak it. I just copied files from zip archive and extracted them to the device. When I removed USB cable unpleasent suprise welcomed me again. Slugishness. You must understend that I did not attempt to install jailbreak and that I deleted those files from my root menu immidietely. Nth changed everything stayed slowed no where near the speed device had before... I tried to reset it again... Unfortunately it did not work... Everything was butter smooth previous time I reset it. What are my next steps? What should I do? Obviously this is cursed FW... Is there any way to downgrade it? Last edited by Dr. Drib; 05-21-2014 at 12:26 PM. |

For firmware downgrade read this topic. Download the "oldupdate.zip", and if you need clarification on how it works read my comment.

I don't see why jailbreaking it or not would have anything to do with it.

It may well have been busy, implementing some of the new "features" that Amazon/Lab126 has added. Quote:
Ah - but any device restart at that time might well have made a difference. If you read it on the Internet, it must be true. Right? ![]() Quote:

Did it still have an Internet connection to the "cloud"? Had it finished sync'ing with the "cloud" by then? Quote:
According to this story, it is still jailbroken. Quote:
Put it on external power (USB cord) so there is no chance of running down the battery - Give it a solid Internet connection - Let it just sit there, so it has a chance to empty its "to do" list of activities - Just leave it alone. Take two aspirins and call us in the morning. Last edited by knc1; 05-21-2014 at 10:13 AM. |

@knc1 Thank you for your amazing response. You and your cynicism helped me a lot.
I never use any synchronization. I keep all of my content in cloud(onedrive) and Calibre. I disabled it on amazon page and in seting. All the time I keep airplane mode on for battery. I though that by reseting device all partitions with jailbreak are automaticly deleted. I was obviously wrong. @shaman Man, thank you a lot. I'll probably downgrade it today. Nevertheless, it turns out device was slowed down due to enourmous heat in my room. I just took device this morning and everything is normal but still little slowed than previous state. Calibre conversion is good, when I search for some strange words everything seems normal. Last edited by Mrsevic; 05-22-2014 at 05:43 AM. |

Sometimes, it is the User not the Kindle that enters a "panic loop" - ![]() My inserting a comment that invokes a: "What in the world could he possibly mean by that?" response will break that loop. Really. A person can't take this Computer Science business too seriously all of the time, they would go insane. |

You would do that too. There is absolute none google queries about sudden slowness of device(except for calibre search bug). |

Well, actually, there is ;p. It's even in knc1's FGA thread, and I'm not even talking of the humongous amount of time this has popped up all over the forum
![]() ![]() The temperature thing is also not new, although it should be way, way, way better than on previous models (Oh, the K3... ![]() |

The processor **should** reduce the clock speed in response to the battery and/or screen temperature.
But maybe not on all models/firmwares. I added this one to the FGA list just the same. |
