Attribute Error on NoneType???

Q1: Without a book open, Edit, Quick Open a File to Edit generated a handled error (which is always nice), but .... (you knew this was coming)

.... if any operation is (or should be) not allowed, it would be more user friendly (IMHO) to dim the menu option so that it is not execuateable

@phossler - IIRC Kovid has said he has user interface styling, customisation, on his TODO list.

@BR - thanks. I hope the list doesn't get too long. The good news is that the programs seem to be very well thought out and so enhancements are easy (mostly) to incorporate

Wish the systems at work were so easily enhanced. Seems like the IT group has to throw out half and re-do the other half every time

They don't get to pick and choose what they do, their deadlines are set by competing business units, or mandated by regulatory authorities; likely as not they have a mountain range of fragile legacy systems around which they have to pussyfoot.
