That pay $15 to get the top tier bonuses really skews things. I'm not sure why they bother with the average price set up for the middle tier.

I'm going to pass on this one, none of the titles really appeal to me, and the bizarreness of getting Vols. 1 & 20 at the $15 price just makes this seem like a "free teaser to get you to buy stuff, except we want money for it this time" thing. That seriously turns me off.

If they were having an issue with how low people were paying on average, they should just get rid of the whole average aspect of the middle tier and put a minimum set price in like their weekly sales. (StoryBundle does this as well.) ---And I agree on the random numbered titles. I know most of the books offered are usually to grab more money (first in a series), but the 1 & 20 is really over the top. Last edited by peachiekene; 04-29-2014 at 07:07 PM. |

BTW, if you've never tried paying below the average, they make you solve a CAPTCHA if you do so. I found that insulting enough I stopped throwing in a dollar or two to support the concept on bundles I didn't like. |

The Bundle comes at a perfect time for me, I planned to buy the first volume of Revival, after enjoying the first issue, and I didn't even realize there was a new Walking Dead volume. The $15 price saved me a few bucks over buying those volumes separately and netted a few volumes of other series to try (which will lead to more spending in the long run

I agree it's a weird combination, a great deal for people who are really new to graphic novels, not so great if you already read a few of those series. I guess the top tier is a compromise by offering TWD Vol. 1 for people who want to try the series, and vol.20 for people like me who already have the first 19, but it's been out for about a month already (the rewards of procrastination !) . Even if this Humble deal doesn't look as popular as other book bundles, if every buyer gets hooked on at least one series it seems like it would really pay off for Image Comics! There's also the argument that people buying the digital copy of a graphic novel will often buy the paper version as well. I think the captcha is required for below average purchases because some groups were reselling Steam keys from the "pay what you want" games. Having to type in a key makes it physically a bit harder for the resellers to to do this. http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/a...ampaign=buffer |

As for the Steam keys, they require you to link your account to Steam to redeem now. You can gift a game, but I'm not sure how that works and you still have to link your account first, so it's unlikely you can easily resell them. That makes the CAPTCHA seem like it's no longer necessary. Plus, they're requiring it even on this comic bundle, where Steam reselling can't be an issue. |

I really liked Lazarus and Saga. Fatale was less to my taste, but not bad. I own but haven't read East of West. I reckon just the first tier is a great deal if you haven't read any of them.

I went cheap and just got the first tier. I only had the first issues of East of West & Lazarus, and the only upper tier book I like is Saga (I have all the issues) so the first tier made the most sense.

I actually discovered I have all the books in the middle tier and Vol. 1 of the upper tier from free giveaways on Comixology already. Oddly, I have none of the lowest tier. Still, others may want to check before you decide if you're going to contribute and/or how much if you are. You might already have them too. These most likely came from the SXSW giveaway or the daily Christmas ones.

I'm waiting until next week to decide. I might just settle with the less than average titles too as I'm not that interested in the others.

By the way, just throwing this out there for people that need a good comic viewer: Comic Zeal on iOS Comic Time on Windows Phone Perfect Viewer on Android BTW (since it was mentioned) - They give you special links when you press the gift button on Steam codes. So easy enough for people to resell. I usually just give my extras away with that option. |

I had issue 1 of Revival from a giveaway, but not the whole volume. The first issue of The Walking Dead is free on Comixology and so is issue #1 of Chew and issue #1 of Saga.

Thanks for the recommendations of comic viewers. I downloaded the viewer recommended by Humble Bundle (Comic Flow iirc) but my husband read Revival Vol. 1 in iBooks. He just showed me that the volume repeats issue #1 at the end so I'm not sure how that error arose. The volume runs from issues #1 to 5 and then at the end of issue 5 it repeats issue #1 (page numbering remains consecutive so it's not just looping back to the beginning of the document). |
