A bit of help reinstalling

Greetings,

I suffered a catastrophic loss of my OCZ SSD, and Calibre was installed in it.

I have no backup of it, but the library itself is still on my secondary HDD. How would I go about reinstalling Calibre so it recognizes the previous ebook library? Just to be clear, I am talking about the calibre converted library, complete with scrapped metadata. I am asking this because I don't want Calibre to think that is not an already converted library and go about duplicating my entire book collection.

Any help is appreciated.

Just reinstall.

If your settings (appdata) were nuked you should get the welcome wizard which will ask if you want to start with an existing library.

If you open straight to an empty library you can click the library icon in the toolbar and select "Switch/Create Library" from the dropdown. You can then add your old library to your library list.

Thanks - that worked nicely!

I know the question was kinda stupid, but when a whole library is at stake, I'd rather ask than be sorry later.

Don't worry, you did the right thing by asking to make sure.

The only stupid question is the one you already know the answer to, for if so why waste peoples' time?

Ask first (or read the FAQ) is a good policy.
It is O-so-much harder to rebuild
