how to manage books
Hi
I had Kindle before. When I finished the reading. I just archive the book. Now, I just got a kobo touch as a gift. So I am wondering how to manage the books after reading. Same as kindle(archive) or some other good suggestions? Thanks in advance |

Everything depends on what YOU want to achieve!
I stick to reading books in ePub format that I manage via calibre. I use the Kobo Utilities plugin to store the reading percentage and status of all books on the Glo. I have a series of automated column definitions in place in calibre. One is based on the date a book was added to calibre and assigns the book to a shelf / collection name "monthadded" and will have the value "ZZ_Added_yyyy_MM". This allows me to easily see when books were added, and read some books based on how long I've had them. Another column gets set when a book is finshed and has the value "Finished_yyyy". This makes it easy to see how many books were read in a given year. Finally I have a custom search defined in calibre that looks for all books on the device that are finished and are not on my "Reference" shelf. This lets me then easily select those books and remove them from my device. |

What I meant to know is that there is any way I can only show unread books in library? or put unread book on the top because I dont want to browse through read books to get unread one? |

EDIT: as David pointed out below, this option is only available on the newer devices, not the Touch. Last edited by robko; 04-21-2014 at 11:34 PM. Reason: Correction |

You could calibre to create collections on the device for each of these states. Opening the "unread" collection would show you the unread books as at the last connection to calibre. |

What format are the books being read? ePubs or kEpubs purchased from Kobo?
If kEpubs purchased from Kobo and synced via either Kobo Desktop or WiFi then yes, Kobo will sync reading positions. If ePubs whether loaded via calibre or ADE, or just copying files yourself, then no; reading location is not synced. You could look at using Kobo Utilities to sync, but I'm not sure how easy it would be to automate. |

Ok. That is too bad. Kepub is only small proportion of my books in Kobo.
I have both Touch and Glo. My touch is very well functional. I got Glo as gift. So not sure how to use two Kobo. Guess sell one is the best option. |
