I haven't seen anything about it in English language media.

It's been out in North America for a while now. There is also it's replacement, the Arc 7HD and the Arc 10HD. Personally I went for the Nexus 7.

I have the original 7 inch Kobo Arc - there is an ongoing very good deal on ebay.co.uk where curry's are selling new stock at £80, with 64GB .
