Nook HD Recent Drawer and Default Reader
I was wondering if someone may be able to help me out. I love Calibre Companion and connect wirelessly to get books to my Nook HD and keep the metadata and library synced. The only problem I have run into, and can't seem to find an answer to anywhere, is that when I open a book to read from the CC app it will open in the native reader but when I close it the book doesn't appear in my recent drawer to quickly reopen later. I have checked everything and can't figure out why. If I open a book from the native Nook library it is there but no luck when opening from CC.
Also, I have noticed that on occasion when I click on Read in Book Details it will flash like it tries to open but nothing happens. I click on Read a second time and it opens with no problem in the native reader. I have gone into settings and used "Clear default reader apps" to see if that did anything and no help there. I have my default location for my books set as /mnt/sdcard/B&N Downloads/Books/ (I don't have an external SD card) so that my books show up if I go into my native library. I thought maybe that might be causing some kind of conflict for one or both of these problems but that's not the case because I tried moving books to a Calibre folder and it still does the same thing but also takes the book off of the native library's list when moved. Anyone else have either of these problems happen and know of any solutions? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Last edited by ItsDaniLyn; 04-04-2014 at 03:48 AM. Reason: Title Change |

I am afraid that I am unable to help with this, as I don't have a nook of any kind. Fortunately there are several CC users active in this forum who have nooks, and perhaps one or more of them will be able to help.

I gather your aim is to easily access the last read book launched by CC, right? If you simply use a reading app such as Moon+ or Mantano, then all you have to do is put a shortcut to the app on your home screen and you’ll always have instant access to your last read book. However, If you must use the native Nook Reader, the only way I know to do it is to use an app launcher utility such as Edge Quick Actions which has its own recent drawer function. Whenever the native Nook Reader is launched, even from CC, its app icon will show up in Edge so you can easily access the reader again. There’s a free version of Edge in the Play store if you want to try it out. --Pat |
