[SOLVED] How to copy files to kindle with 'ebook-device cp'?

I have been trying to use the ebook-device command to copy files to my kindle from the cli.
ebook-device info returns

Code:
Device name: Amazon Kindle
Device version:
Software version:
Mime type:
But when trying to actually copy files to the Kindle like so:

ebook-device cp myEbook.mobi /documents/

the command does nothing.

The helpfile states:

Quote:
Device paths have the form
dev:mountpoint/my/path
where mountpoint is one of / or card:/
A second stab at the problem was to use the output of ebook-device info: "Amazon Kindle" and use that as the device-path:

Code:
ebook-device cp myEbook.mobi Amazon\ Kindle:/documents/
which also did not work.

So, what am I missing?

If you try
Code:
ebook-device
and tab once, it will auto-fill in "dev:" I believe that is what signifies a "device" -- not "Amazon Kindle" -- especially since calibre doesn't do multiple devices at once.

EDIT: PeterT beat me there.

What he suggested.

Nope, ebook-device cp ebook.mobi dev:/documents/ does not work, neither with the kindle mounted to /media/Kindle nor with the kindle not mounted to the fs at all.

Does ebook-device expect the Kindle to be mounted to the fs?
If I need to still manually (or via fstab) mount the kindle myself, I don't really understand the use-case of the ebook-reader cp command in the first place, since I could simply mount the device and then cp the files over...

My hope was that ebook-device automagically recognizes the kindle when attached, which would make the command a great tool in conjunction with scripts...

Thank you Kovid, for fixing this.
So, for future reference,
Code:
ebook-device cp somebook.mobi dev:/documents/
is the way to go.
