Help viewing Highlights on Kindle Paperwhite
Hi All,
Bought my paperwhite a few days ago and need help trying to access all the highlights that I have made on a particular book that I am reading. The instructions say.. "You can view all your notes, highlights, and bookmarks for a particular book. While reading a book, tap the top of the screen to display the toolbar. Then tap Menu→View Notes & Marks. All your notes, your highlights, and the popular highlights for that e-book are displayed" So I tap menu but i don't have the option to "View Notes & Marks". Only options I have when reading are: Shop in store - Vocab Builder - settings - book description - about author - landscape mode - sync to furthest read page - reading progress. Help please Daveo |

You are tapping from the Home page. Do it from an eBook page and you will see the Note option.

@davd.david
You are in the right place (sirmaru is incorrect). On my PW, "Notes" is listed in the menu immediately below settings. I'm not sure why you don't see it...have you registered your PW? (I know some features only show up after you register your device, not sure if this is one of them) Good Luck! |

@david.david you can try making sure you are registered, although I doubt it will help -- I have seen this option all the time when deregistered. Perhaps resetting to factory defaults will help, though no guarantees. This is certainly an interesting problem. ![]() |

Did you try tapping Go To? From in a book it's on the toolbar beside the font key. Tap Go To and the first tab will be the table of contents, but there should be another tab called Notes.

Exactly and that is what "Kindle User Guide 2nd edition" also says. The quote in the thread must be from the wrong user guide.

I'm not sure which user guide the quote is from, however notes and highlights are available from both the menu button and the GoTo button while reading a book on both My PW1 and my PW2.... still don't know why it isn't showing up from the menu button from within the book immediately under the settings option for the OP.

Sorry folks, I just checked my PW 2013 again. Tapping Menu from the Home Page I get:
1. Shop Kindle Store (shaded out since I have turned on Parental Controls and blocked it) 2. Kindle Free Time 3. Vocabulary Builder (shaded out since I opted not to use it) 4. Experimental Browser 5. Settings 6. Cover View 7. Create New Collection 8. Sync and Check for Items Notes are NOT shown at the Home Page. I am using version 5.4.3. If I open an eBook I get: 1. Shop Kindle Store (shaded out since I blocked it with Parental Controls.) 2. Settings 3. NOTES 4. Book Description 5. About the Authors 6. Landscape Mode 7. Sync to Furthest Page Read 8. Reading Progress. I do not use Calibre which most folks use and have the latest firmware version installed which most folks do NOT have installed for a variety of reasons. The OP should have the same display as me or, if he doesn't see Notes where I see them, either he does not have the proper firmware version installed or something is wrong with his unit. Plus, you can see all your Notes and Highlights on all your Amazon eBooks here: https://kindle.amazon.com/your_highlights By the way, the PW 2012 with its latest version 5.4.4 has exactly the same setup as the PW 2013. I have the Home Page set to show Collections and sort by Title. Last edited by sirmaru; 03-24-2014 at 10:44 PM. |
