Seven sweet literary works. Humble eBook Bundle 3 features six novel works of prose from respected authors. Name your price for Tithe: A Modern Faerie Tale by Holly Black, Jumper by Steven Gould, The Happiest Days of Our Lives by Wil Wheaton, and Zombies Versus Unicorns - An Anthology edited by Holly Black & Justine Larbalestier. Pay more than the average and you'll also receive Uglies by Scott Westerfeld and Mogworld by Yahtzee Croshaw!

As a special exclusive, pay $15 or more and you'll also get Homeland by Cory Doctorow (narrated by Wil Wheaton) in audiobook format!

Pay what you want. Separately, this anthology of literary greatness would typically cost you more than $75, but we're letting you set the price!

These books are available in multiple formats including PDF, MOBI, and ePub, so they work great on your computer, eBook readers, and a wide array of mobile devices! Full viewing instructions can be found here. Please note that this is the digital debut for some of these great titles, and if you're having any viewing or usability issues, please let us know through our email form!

Support charities and authors. You choose where your money goes: between the authors and/or the following charities, Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America Emergency Medical Fund and World Reader. If you like this promotion, a tip to Humble Bundle would be greatly appreciated!

This price is quickly on the rise. When I purchased it had gone up to $9.99. You may want to act now if you're planning on buying that level.

IMO it's a bad move to pair an audiobook with the ebooks. If this were an all-audiobook bundle I might be tempted. Spend $15 to get 1 audiobook with a bunch of ebooks? Not so much. Still, best of luck to them - I hope Humbe keeps doing books.

I think the average went up so quickly because of the $15 minimum for the audiobook. Interesting article on Cory Doctorow's blog about DRM. It sounds like the audiobook will be exclusive to Humblebundle for those two weeks (but may be sold from his own website after that?)

I was thinking the same thing. It's still continuing to rise, though much slower than earlier.
For some reason I thought I paid less with the last ebook bundle, but checking my email, I actually paid more. ^^;

---I have been wondering. Does anyone know why they do the "more added later" thing?

Typically a week into a Humble Bundle (the halfway point), they add additional titles to bump up sales.

I'm sitting it out this time, but I just wanted to comment on the pricing.

The "Pay $15 or more to unlock!" is a huge screwup this time around. It's definitely not something that will most likely be brought back for the next one. Those are usually in the Weekly sales that come every Thursday.

They really didn't think that through.

And I agree, what is this doing in an ebook sale to begin with?

Agreed. It just feels really slimy. It makes sense for the weekly sales because they have set prices everywhere.

I guess I'm the odd one out on the audiobook.
I don't mind that they included one, but I don't like that it's completely separate from what's included in the bundle. If Homeland and/or Little Brother were a part of it, then paying a bit extra for the audiobook would make sense. (Granted, they have not done the big reveal, so who knows.)

After thinking about it, I get it now. I was just being a grump because I don't like "known" surprises and I needed to think outside of my own preferences.
(The second week reveal has never made me change my mind about not purchasing a bundle.)
But it's a pretty good marketing strategy, I don't imagine they'd still be doing it if it wasn't working.

Anyone read any of these books? Even for cheap it doesn't strike me as an especially attractive package of books.

Doctorow gives away his ebooks for free, so you can get the files for Little Brother and Homeland directly from his site.
http://craphound.com/littlebrother/download/

http://craphound.com/homeland/

He independently produced the audiobook of Homeland - more explanation of why on his blog.

Clicking on each book will give you a first chapter sample. The first four above are pay anything, so you aren't investing all that much.

Personally, the only book that is tempting for me is Yahtzee Croshaw's book, mainly because I'm a fan of his video game reviews.

Same here, I only see one book I might be vaguely interested in and it's one of the "beat the average price" books. The regular book selection is so unappealing to me that I wouldn't even throw in a dollar to get them. The last two had multiple books I was interested in and I was happy to pay higher than the average for the bundle. It doesn't help that I'm totally uninterested in audio books, so the thing driving up the average is something I wouldn't even want for free.

I really don't see this bundle pulling in as many sales as previous eBook ones. Maybe the extra titles added will make it appealing.
