"read sync" column?

What exactly are the "read sync" and "read date sync" columns supposed to do? It's difficult to translate without knowing the function.

These are used by the SmartDevice App device driver. The "read sync" column is the lookup name of a yes/no custom column that a "smart app" (e.g., Calibre Companion) is to use when synchronizing its "book read" information with calibre. The "read date" sync column is the lookup name of a calibre date custom column that the smart app is to use when synchronizing its date read information.

By "synchronize" I mean copy the information from/to calibre to/from the app running on the device. Which direction it goes depends on where it was last changed.

Hope that helps.

They are the places to mark (user input) status of 'read' (Calibre companion is adding remote update support)

As I understand, you can use either or both to record reading progress.
Your column, your usage rules.

I just use a date(stamp).
Previously I used a Tri-state T/F column
Blank was not read
True was done
False was not gonna try and finish this one (I don't discard books I don't like. Someone must like it )
