Please Kobo add an option to block authors and I don't receive any book title of thse authors ever again.
I get to many offerings of authors I don't want to read, I never bought a book from, are not similar to what I read(*). Don't recommend books simply because you have to offer something. It is frustrating to me to weed those books out as it doesn't match (or hardly remotely) to my reading preferences. And it won't generate any purchase now or in the future, if you keep recommending that same author or even book title again and again. (*) I know that you (Kobo) might think that books are similar as a thiller is a thriller, right? But can you understand that when I have dismissed titles from author X for at least a dozen times that I don't want to read those books? Last edited by Anak; 03-03-2014 at 09:59 AM. |

While we're asking for improvements, Kobo: just because I bought one public-domain book from you doesn't mean I want to have any old random public-domain book thrust at me as a recommendation. Yeah, I needed a copy of H.G. Wells's THE TIME MACHINE, and was willing to pay a buck for Kepub version, but that doesn't mean I want Marx's DAS KAPITAL or Jane Austen's EMMA just because they're also "classics."

This aggressive and obnoxious sales marketing is also evident on Amazon. I wonder if the adults running the front end customer UI realise how off putting this behaviour is ?. thank heavens they don't have control over my mouse button which instantly closes these annoying, rude, obnoxious sales pitches.

I'm not sure if any of you are talking about the recommendations that Kobo sends on your device?
Because you can turn those off on the device itself - I do. As to the Kobo Desktop Manager I never look at what they have - I only use it sync my ereader. As to kobobooks.com website it's easy enough not to look at those. Maybe I'm not understanding the issue ... ![]() |

I've purchased almost 350 books from Kobo, and at this point, their recommendations are pretty much on target. The recommendations do get screwed up when I purchase something out of my usual pattern of buying. A visit to the purchased page of my library on the Kobo website and clicking the not-interested choice for the recommendations takes care of it, and all is well, once more, in my recommendations.
Of course I do see recommendations for books I have borrowed from the library or purchased from somewhere else. |
