New info on Kindle Paperwhite 3 (PW3)
GoodEReader by Michael Kozlowski today (here): The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 3 will use New Flexible Screen Technology as used by the Sony. The entire e-reader will be lighter than previous models, have higher resolution and incorporate a flexible display.

Isn't this similar to the Techcrunch rumor? I hope that the rumors of a lighter Kindle are true, but I feel suspicious of the rumor until we have hard evidence like leaks of the screens from the factories.

This is yet another unicorn. I am waiting for news of the Kindle PW3 till an actually reliable source comes out, that can explain why they can predict X.
"A source has disclosed" sounds pretty sketchy. But at some point, Amazon will probably be giving out prototypes for review by reputable blogs. |

Thanks for the link, avinatbezeq.
Here's what I wish we did with various highly anticipated e-readers and tablets: Started a master rumors thread for each one, in which the first post was updated to reflect new articles speculating on the specs. We've had several threads now about Amazon's next e-reader, but it would be nice if the rumors were consolidated and kept in one place. It would also be easier to check how accurate they proved once the e-reader finally appeared. Last edited by Prestidigitweeze; 03-02-2014 at 05:56 PM. |

http://www.the-digital-reader.com/20...-e-ink-screen/ Shortly after I posted that I got an email which said denied that the "flexible, higher-resolution" display doesn't exist. Alas, I cannot tell you who that source is so it's worth bupkiss. Last edited by Nate the great; 03-02-2014 at 07:57 PM. Reason: fixed the negation |

They should publish an 13.3" reader. What's with the 'always lighter' devices anyway?

The article does make the new theoretical Paperwhite very interesting though, definitely upgrade worthy! |

One thing I would quite like to see is them keeping the same casing for the new model, the size of it feels right and it would eliminate the need to throw away existing accessories.

Kindle's accessories are probably quite profitable also. When Amazon changes the Kindle's dimensions most people have to repurchase another high profit case.

Doesn't it seem a tad odd to spend $30 to keep a $40 Kindle safe? You drop it on the floor and go: "Puuhh, I just saved me ten bucks there".

The dimensions don't change that often. The PW2 is the same size as the PW1, for example, and the current generation of "basic Kindle" is the same size as the previous generation was.
