Fetching notes from a Kindle and merging them into the original document
Hello all,
I'm having some issues (basically I can't get it done ) exporting notes from my Kindle Touch and merging them into the original document. That's the scenario. My dad wrote a novel and I just read the draft on my kindle touch. The original format of the draft is MS Word. I use Calibre to manage my book collection and I added this novel to the collection. I converted it to .mobi, read it using my kindle and added notes (about 1200). I would like now to merge these notes to the .mobi (or word) file so that my dad can read them. My goal is to merge the .mobi file with the notes or merge the notes into the .rtf document as MS Word notes. I followed the great guide by GRiker (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...749#post817749) and successfully fetched the notes from my kindle. Now I have the "Moira - Angel Comas.mbp" file, along with "My clippings.txt" file and the original document (.mobi). But there is no way (or at least, I can't find it) to merge both documents into a single one. I've browsed this forum and googled this issue, but haven't found a solution. Do you have any ideas, any pointers? Thank you very much ![]()

You will have to do it by hand, there is no such concept as merging annotations with an ebook.

Calibre does a very good job of converting DOCX to EPUB and AZW3, should you ever want to, and DOCX is usually smaller in size than other Word formats (up to 90%) BR Last edited by BetterRed; 02-22-2014 at 04:21 PM. Reason: typo |

Thank you BetterRed!
The issue is the other way round.. I have the book, I read it on my kindle and added notes, and now I'd like to merge the notes with the book so that these notes can be read in a word or pdf format. That's what I'm not able to do ![]() Thanks! Quote:

Looking back at your original post I don't know why I thought otherwise
Must have been having a pretend tired and emotional day ![]() Could your dad read your Kindle book & annotations in the Kindle for PC program side by side with his original in Word. He's need to have a reasonable size screen, probably at least 22" 1920x1200 pixies. I have no idea if its even feasible to read an annotated 'kindle book' in the KPC program - eschwartz probably knows.BR Last edited by BetterRed; 02-28-2014 at 06:43 AM. |

You cannot import annotations into Kindle 4 PC, but anything you bought from Amazon should be synced with K4PC, including annotations. Not very helpful here, though.
You may want to take a look here: http://www.clippingsconverter.com/ They can import a "My Clippings.txt" into a database and show it to you per-book, or export as Word, Excel, or PDF. It should help a lot with the readability vs. a text file.
