upgrading from a kobo glo.
Hi,
I am thinking of upgrading. I currently have a kobo glo and find it to be good but... My eyes are not what they used to be and the fonts look a bit fuzzy. I have loaded every bold font I could find in hopes of helping. It is not horrible by any means but, I am searching for a better experience. I get me books from many different stores and don't limit myself to just buying epubs. I really want a nice white background with a dark thick font. I do read web articles as well that are saved in pocket which I think kindle offers a similar experience.Do kindles charge you to send web articles to the reader? I may end up with a nexus 7 if I can't find a suitable reader. What do you all suggest? Sincerely, Penny |

The only e-ink devices you are likely to get better display on than the Glo are the Kobo Aura HD and maybe the newer Kindle Paperwhite. The Aura HD has a higher definition screen that is generally considered to be the best. The Paperwhite has the latest e-ink screen and seems to be the best at the resolution it uses.
But, have you tried adjusting the fonts on the Glo? If you are using a supplied font, there is an "Advanced" button next to the font name in the font settings dialog. This allows you to adjust the weight and sharpness of these fonts. Playing with that might help solve the problem. |

If you use wi-fi to send your web articles to your Kindle, then no it doesn't cost (the only charges are for sending files via 3G on a 3G enabled Kindle).
I'd agree with davidfor's post though, before considering an upgrade to either the Aura HD or Kindle Paperwhite (or indeed a tablet), make sure you experiment as much as you can with the font options on your Glo. It might take a bit of fiddling with to get something that suits you, but the customisation of the fonts is one of the plus points of the Kobo. |
