Syncing Android/iOS Reading Apps
Is there an app that works on both Android and iOS that will sync books so that I can read on either and always be on the right page? The Kindle app doesn't sync reliably (if at all) and I don't know about other store apps.
I'm currently reading a Kindle book on my iPhone, and when I tried to sync it to the Android, it told me that page 1 was the "farthest read across all devices." Past experience reminds me that sometimes it works and most of the time it doesn't. My personal phone is an iPhone, but my new work phone is an Android. I don't spend much time reading my iPhone, but it's convenient to have a book on it and it would be nice to share a single book across both phones. I don't want to spend a lot of time with trial and error on something that I will not use often, so I thought I'd post here and see if anyone already knows if such an app exists. Thanks! ![]() |

The Kindle apps are supposed to sync naturally.
They might glitch from time to time but mostly they work fine. |

Kindle apps sync fine for the most part. I sync between iOS and Android and my Kindles all the time. Normally it will sync even if you switch away from the app. But if there happens to be no wireless connection when you do that, it cannot update the location, and it cannot tell you that it didn't work (iOS requires app to shut down silently within a limited period of time, Android is similar). If you want more reliability and feedback, return to Home and manually sync.
There are other apps that sync between iOS and Android, let you upload your own content, and sync. Google Play books and txtr come to mind. But they are likely no more 'reliable'. Last edited by tomsem; 02-13-2014 at 07:42 PM. |

It has been several years -- and several device and OS upgrades -- since I last tried Kindle syncing. After reading the replies here, I tried a manual sync and found out that syncing was turned off on my iPhone.
![]() Thanks for your reassurances; I think the Kindle app will work for me after all. ![]() |
