Smarten punctuation
It would surly be nice to send a HTML file to "Smarten punctuation".
Is there a method? |

Under Calibre Editor, Tools there's 'Smarten Punctuation' that seems to do it
There's also a icon (looks like Right Curly Quotes) Something other that that? |

I am trying to decide if he want to limit it to a single file (the smarten is not on the current window icon bar), the current icon/menu item appears to be 'the BOOK'

smarten $ html file
I do the majority of editing in epp. Being able to run the HTML through smarten simplifies several items. If I load the html to ebook-edit, the output file is an ePub file. Workable but a PITA. Is there a version of smarten independent of ebook-edit?

It can also be accessed via the command line see http://manual.calibre-ebook.com/cli/ebook-polish.html And you can add it to toolbars in Preferences BR |

I didn't know the Polish feature worked on straight HTML files (the OP's question). I thought it was only set to deal with epub and azw3 files.

I wonder if this might help. Getting MarkDown and SmartyPants working with EditPad Pro
