Is it possible to replace the book keeping all the tags, comments, and cover?

For example, there is a book, fully decorated, but with shortcomings in the design of the text. There is a new version of the text in another file - better. Can I somehow "copy over" the old with the stored data - tags, comments, cover?
Thank you.

Remove the format or remove all formats and drag and drop the other file. Then convert or edit/tweak/polish

The book record contains all that information, and it then associates certain files as being the book that is referred to. If you open the Edit Metadata window, there will be an Add Books button that will allow you to add new formats. It will also overwrite previous files of the same format.

And you can simply drag and drop the UPDATED format into the Formats Window and it will replace whatever is there.

You can Also D&D into the Details pane. Use care, you can drop ANY (wrong) title into that slot with the same ease as the correct one

I play safe
  1. copy the format (file) to be replaced to a desktop folder named Safety, by right clicking it in Book Details panel (the one on the right) and selecting Save to disk
  2. delete the format (file) to be replaced via right clicking it in Book Details panel and selecting Delete XXX format
  3. drag the replacement format file over the Book details panel and drop it
The reasons I play safe are: Firstly, I always prefer explicit processes. Secondly, I prefer to avoid invoking and dismissing extra dialogues boxes. Thirdly, I'm always uncertain of what various settings might do now and in the future. And fourthly of course, I make mistakes.

I only ever 'played' with it on a Burroughs MCP system - I met Moore and Rather then.

I know Bess Rather worked at Kitts Peak and I think Arizona State. That was back in the days when there were plenty of women in computing.

Since the advent of the home computers their numbers (proportionately) have dwindled dramatically.

Prior to the early 1990's most of my 'managers' were women. Then came the age of the 'geeks' and their 'Master of Bugger All' damagers [sic].
