My Kobo Aura doesn't have Beyond the Book?
After charging up my Aura HD for the first time since I received my Kobo Aura, I noticed a strange icon in the bottom left hand corner of the book I was reading. I clicked on it and found that it was the beyond the book feature! I've never seen this before. Why is it not on my Kobo Aura? I'm reading the same book (Dracula) on both. They both have the same firmware and I just changed the affiliates to the same thing (Aura from KoboIndigo to KoboDirect). Does Aura not have Beyond the book? Is it because my Aura is from Japan whereas my Aura HD is directly from Kobo? My Japanese Aura didn't have Pocket either but as soon as I switched the affiliate the Pocket option appeared so I don't know why the same thing wouldn't happen with Beyond the book. Is there something that I have to turn on in the settings?

The BtB display is based on whether there are some entries in the database on the device. These are downloaded from the Kobo server when the book is downloaded. If the book was downloaded to the Aura before you changed the affiliate, it probably didn't download the BtB info. You could try removing the book from the Aura and downloading then downloading it again. This worked when I was experimenting with the BtB info last week and wanted to refresh the data for the book I was using. Do a sync first so you don't lose the reading position or any annotations.

That did the trick! Thank you! Now I guess that means I'll have to delete all the content off my ereader and redownload it. Ughh! I think I'll just do it book by book as I read.

Glad to know that was the problem. And yes, you will need to do that. You could do a log out and login again. When you do that, it only downloads five books but gets the basic details for all of them. Then you can either download them as you want to read them or there is an option to download them all.

This is one of the few times the Kobo desktop app is useful. Removing a lot of books is easier with it.

I'm intrigued by BTB and the Kindle X-Ray feature. I have yet to download a freebie BTB title (but I am managing to find time to read on my Kobo, so I guess I've got my priorities right). Has anyone who has used both BTB and X-ray comment on them/compare?

Hi, I bought an Aura from Japan and I have the same problem. Itried to change the affiliation but it didn't work. I go to appdata an then the kobo folder and then change the affiliation.I tried:
KoboIndigo
Indigo
WalmartUSA
WalmartCA
Staples
It didn't change. Does anyone knows why?

Kobo removed the Beyond the Book in firmware 3.15.0. As you changed the affiliate, the Aura probably updated to this.

Hi, I don't think that is the problem because my Aura is stuck on 3.1 . I can not update it and it is still 3.1

Is it not updating during a sync? If so, what is the affiliate in the affiliate.conf? Some don't allow updating, but you can change it to "Kobo" and it will update.

Or a manually install should always work.

Hello, thanks for your comment, I just bought it so I have tons of free space so I dont think that is a problem. I changed the affiliate.conf to Kobo and I tried kobo KoboIndigo,koboindigo but everyone is saying .kobo folder. I could not find it. I have Kobo desktop edition folder and the affiliate folder is in it. I tried to look at hidden folders but .kobo folder didnt show up. Is Kobo desktop edition folder is same as .kobo folder? I tried manually updating it too. I ınstalled software 3.11 and I unzipped in Kobo desktop edition folder. then I sync the device and ejected it. The update did not start. I have no idea what else can I do (
