Alraune. Die Geschichte eines lebenden Wesens, Ewers' Erfolgsroman, wurde mehrfach verfilmt, zuletzt mit Hildegard Knef in der Titelrolle.
Zurecht schreibt wikipedia, dass der Roman "voyeuristisch-reißerische Elemente der Zeit bediente". Die Tiefe von Meyrinks "Golem" wird dabei nicht erreicht. Aber als historischer Horrorroman ist er hinreichend unterhaltsam.
Das Cover folgt der Erstausgabe. Zwei düstere Illustrationen aus dieser sind ferner mit enthalten.
