Not likely, but no way to tell until it either happens or we look back months later and laugh at such a prediction. My guess is that that rumor, which has been around for months in different configurations, is just a fantasy rumor. It was originally rumored to happen for the 2013 Fall release of the Paperwhite 2013. That didn't happen. I've seen more images of this supposed prototype, and it looks more like a Kindle Fire than a Kindle eInk. My guess is that the images are of a prototype that might or might not ever be produced. I doubt seriously that it is an eInk device. Amazon has traditionally released ALL of the eInk readers and Kindle Fires within a few week time span in the Fall. I don't see that changing.

I've got a 2014 Kindle PW in my hand!!! 300 DPI! Battery seems to last forever and it's thinner and lighter.

It was delivered by Amazon's drone service today. Landed in my back yard, three little gray guys with big eyes unloaded it and had me sign for it... I swear! ; )

I concur. I'll believe it when I see it. I suspect touch screen manufacturing is much cheaper these days than mechanical switches. Thoughts?

I don't miss the Touch's version of a touchscreen--the PW is better on that score. But I do miss the home button. A few months & a few thousand pages with the PW2, and I'm still routinely trying to use a non-existent button!

I'd love the PW touchscreen too -- but not at the cost of the home button. I use it too much to be reduced to the clunky method in the PW.

Hence why I love my Kindle Touch; I don't actually expect Amazon to fix this.

I suspect it is more a case of the same group as last time (I am subscribed to both those threads) congregating at every opportunity to commiserate/gripe.

Shame as I like the page turner buttons....when reading on a crowded bus I tend to hold my PW one hand and touching the page in the right place can be a PITA....might try to buy my K3 back...
