no photo cover with download
I've only had my Kobo since Christmas so I am still learning what ereaders good points are and its limitations are as well.
I have downloaded six books to date. Yesterday I downloaded the new Peter Robinson book but it did not download the cover photo. Also it says it has 330 pages yet the zhardback version according to Amazon has 441 pages. I use normal font size and with a 6 inch screen I though the Kobo would use more pages that a book. My question is, really about the cover photo. Should I always get a cover page or are these things a bit hit and miss. I guess I will find out about the page count when I read the book. |

Cover art is up to the publisher. Some publishers (most these days) include it, some don't.
The number of pages in ebooks is counted differently, depending on the software. I don't know about Kobo's on-device software, but Adobe Digital Editions page count is often much, much smaller than the hardback or paperback versions (I assume, among other reasons, that ADE leaves out all the chapter start and end half-pages, empty pages, etc, when counting the pages, in addition to other things). Your chosen font size, margins, line spacing shouldn't have any relevance to whatever page count is given - it's likely that you'll be on the "same page" (same page number will remain) for a number of page turns. |

It annoys me when there's no proper cover, especially on the Kobo where quite a lot of use is made of it. (I probably don't even notice on the Kindle.)
I expect it's a way of skimping on payments to artists and designers. |

Remember; it's NOT Kobo who decides on the presence or lack thereof of the cover; it's the actual book publisher.

And also remember the cover can only be used in an e-book IF the publisher obtained the rights for e-book use.
For many backlist titles, they did not Know they would be needing e-book rights when the contracts were signed ![]() We won't talk about the Artists ![]() |

Calibre can sometimes be helpful with finding covers for books.
